Project Site: 32.466 acres on Bee Creek Road, 0.5 mile north of the intersection with Highway 71.
Total Construction Budget: $ 40,800,000
Description: New public middle school designed to accommodate approximately 1,200 students with associated drives, parking lots, football field with running track, practice field, outdoor basketball court, four tennis courts, and associated infrastructure and water quality measures.
CAI Scope: Tree and topographical survey, civil/site design, permitting, and construction phase services.
Design challenges included laying out the site to accommodate all the needed facilities within the limited space and steep topography, and providing vehicular and ADA-compliant pedestrian access as required. Due to its location adjacent to Bee Creek, additional environmental protection measures were included in the design in order to provide enhanced protection of Bee Creek during construction. Water service was not readily available to the site. CAI assisted the Client with the application for water service from a local provider and designed approximately 1,800 linear feet of off-site water line to provide domestic and fire protection water to the project.
Permitting included submitting site development permit applications to the City of Lakeway, Travis County, and the Travis County Fire Marshal.
